THE PRODUCT
- Concrete
- Extruded on site
- Not individual pieces
- One continuous piece
- No reinforcement needed since no weight is placed on curbing
- Color is added to the mix
THE PROCESS
- Existing sod is removed with sod cutter-approximately one inch removed
- Curbing is extruded on top of ground through a small machine approximately the size and weight of a lawn mower
- Control joints placed to control cracking
- Sealer is applied to colored curbing after installation
BENEFITS
- Curbing floats on top of ground which means it is minimally impacted by ground freeze/thaw cycles
- Will not rot, rust, decompose
- More economical and durable than traditional lawn edging.
- Natural appearance to landscaping.
- 4" height and 6" or 7" width means mulch stays put
- Durable - once fully cured, difficult to chip or break
- Flexibility for design configurations
- Most jobs can be completed in one day
- Reduces edging and trimming time
CAUTIONS
- Tree roots that pop up out of the ground are not a friend of the curbing
- Concrete does crack, but every effort is made to control where the cracks occur by the use of control joints-similar to sidewalks and driveways
- If the curbing is walked on or driven on prior to it being cured, damage may occur -- seeĀ Care & Maintenance for details
